The Day of Education in the Turkish Language Commemorated – Happy December 21

On the occasion of December 21 – the Day of Education in the Turkish Language, a ceremonial event was held today at the premises of the Ministry for Inter-Community Relations, dedicated to the importance of the mother tongue and its role in preserving cultural identity and multicultural values in the Republic of North Macedonia.

At the event, an address was delivered by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of North Macedonia and Minister for Inter-Community Relations, Mr. Ivan Stoilkovic, who emphasized the importance of continuously nurturing and improving education in the mother tongue, as well as fostering mutual respect, cooperation, and support among communities.

“Let this day serve as a reminder that through language we pass on values, tradition, and cultural heritage to future generations, building a society founded on understanding, respect, and friendship. Happy December 21 – the Day of Education in the Turkish Language,” said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Stoilkovic.

The ceremony was further enriched by an appropriate cultural and artistic program performed by students from the Primary School “Sande Shterjoski” in Kichevo and the Preschool Institution “Draga Stojanovska” from the village of Drzhilovo, who, through song, recitations, and musical performances, showcased the richness of the Turkish language and culture.

Education in the Turkish mother tongue in our country has a long and significant tradition dating back to 1944, when the first foundations of organized instruction in the Turkish language were laid at the primary school “Tefeyuz” in Skopje.

On the occasion of the Day of Education in the Turkish Language, as well as the upcoming New Year holidays, the Ministry for Inter-Community Relations provided appropriate gifts for the children participating in the program.

Happy December 21 – the Day of Education in the Turkish Language!
