Stoilkovic: The work of Cyril and Methodius is more than a historical legacy – it is a living inspiration and a reminder that literacy is the gateway to knowledge

On behalf of the Ministry for Inter-Community Relations and on my own behalf, I extend sincere congratulations on the occasion of May 24th – Saints Cyril and Methodius Day, the Day of the Slavic Enlighteners.

This significant day holds a special place in the cultural and spiritual calendar of all Slavic nations, as it celebrates the work of the holy brothers who established the basis for Slavic literacy, education, and spiritual development.

The legacy of Cyril and Methodius is more than a historical inheritance – it is a living inspiration and a reminder that literacy is the gateway to knowledge, progress, and freedom, and that education is the most valuable investment in the future of every society.

The creation of the Glagolitic script and the spread of Christian values and literacy left an indelible mark on the history of the Slavic peoples.

Let May 24th be a day of pride, gratitude, and encouragement to carry on their vision, and may it remind us that literacy and education are the foundations of every modern and prosperous society.
