Meeting between Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Inter-Community Relations Ivan Stoilkovic with Spanish Ambassador Rafael Soriano Ortiz

The Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia and Minister for Inter-Community Relations, Mr. Ivan Stoilkovic, held a working meeting today with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain to the Republic of North Macedonia, H.E. Rafael Soriano Ortiz.

The meeting, held in a constructive atmosphere, focused on opportunities to strengthen partnership and cooperation across various sectors, with a particular emphasis on capital investments. Views and opinions were also exchanged on current political and economic issues in the country and the region, all with the aim of facilitating joint investments and maintaining the government’s priority – strong economic development and the comprehensive transformation of the state.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Inter-Community Relations, Stoilkovic, among other things, informed Ambassador Rafael Soriano Ortiz about the work of the Ministry for Inter-Community Relations, the plans for this calendar year, and emphasized that intensive efforts are being made to change the approach toward smaller ethnic communities. He also expressed gratitude for Spain’s continued support, the result of more than 30 years of diplomatic relations and traditional friendship, particularly in the context of our country’s EU integration process.

Spanish Ambassador Rafael Soriano Ortiz, for his part, conveyed messages of support and recognition for the progress achieved, assuring that advancement in the EU enlargement process – based on a merit-based system and principled policies – remains high on the agenda.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties agreed that the cooperation between the two countries – founded above all on longstanding friendship – is key, and that it should and can be further deepened.
