Saint Sava was commemorated – the national holiday of the Serbs in the Republic of North Macedonia

In anticipation of Saint Sava – the national holiday of the Serbian community in the Republic of North Macedonia, today a ceremonial event was held at the premises of the Ministry for Inter-Community Relations, which was enriched by the presence of the Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia, H.E. Nevena Jovanović.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Inter-Community Relations, Ivan Stoilković, and Ambassador Jovanović delivered speeches, emphasizing the importance of preserving tradition, as well as mutual respect and support as part of the multicultural and multi-ethnic mosaic we are collectively building.

The event was further enriched by the presence and a special program presented by students from grades 1 to 5 of the ‘Braća Ribar’ Primary School from Tabanovce, Kumanovo, along with the branch schools from the villages of Četirce and Gorno Konjare, and from the ‘Svetozar Marković’ Primary School in Staro Nagoričane. In honor of Saint Sava, the children participating in the program were also given thoughtful gifts, including a Serbian language primer.

Saint Sava was declared the national holiday of Serbs in the country with an amendment to the Law on Holidays on February 8, 2007, and since then, this day has been a non-working day for members of the Serbian community.

Happy January 27th – the national holiday of Serbs in North Macedonia.
