Stoilković in a meeting with the Chinese Acting Ambassador Lei: Opportunities for expanding economic cooperation between the two countries were the main topic of discussion

The Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia and Minister for Inter-Community Relations, Mr. Ivan Stoilković, held a working meeting with a delegation from the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Skopje, led by the Acting Ambassador, Mr. Su Lei.

At the meeting, it was noted that the bilateral relations between the two countries are based on friendship and cooperation in several areas of mutual interest. Both the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Stoilković, along with the Acting Ambassador Mr. Lei, expressed their willingness to further strengthen bilateral ties, with a particular focus on expanding trade relations and advancing key infrastructure projects.

Among other things, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Inter-Community Relations,  Stoilković informed Acting Ambassador Lei about the functioning of the Ministry for Inter-Community Relations and the fact that it should evolve into an institution that will work for the benefit of all ethnic communities in the country. He also shared details about the projects he is working on as Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of North Macedonia. In this regard, the discussion also covered the possibilities for expanding economic cooperation between the two countries, with both interlocutors expressing a desire to further stimulate this cooperation.

The Chinese ambassador emphasized that his country is open to cooperation with North Macedonia and its citizens, with a special focus on the willingness of Chinese companies to participate in major infrastructure projects, as well as to address any potential issues that may arise. As a further demonstration of the excellent relations between the two countries, the Acting Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China also announced the facilitation of the visa regime for Macedonian citizens, noting that, in the future, visas issued would be valid for five years.

At the end of the meeting, both interlocutors agreed that the cooperation between the two countries, primarily based on long-standing friendship, is crucial, and that China’s experience as a country of diversity should serve as a good example in the region.
